Yesterday was a big day- I laced up my Brooks Adrenalines and was back at the Calhoun Beach Running Club.
To be honest, Friday was my first day back to running, but yesterday was my first day back with the club. I only ran an easy 7 miles, but I was happy to be back at it.
After the run, it was dog park time- (and Hunter Boots time- I heart fall!)
Matilda needed a lot of exercise so she would be worn out for the night, as I was hosting a potluck for my running club girlfriends, and I wanted her to be on her best behavior. The potluck was great! Other than this cheesy jack o'lantern appetizer, we had veggies, pumpkin chili, eggplant parmesan, asparagus, macaroni and cheese, a yummy rice dish, a fig jam and cheese appetizer, ham, and more!
For dessert, there was apple crisp and chocolate cake. Both dishes were amazing, until Matilda decided to sneak up on the counter to devour half of the chocolate cake....So much for her being on her best behavior. I was pretty freaked out that she would get sick from the chocolate, but fortunately there was no dark chocolate in the cake. We did some quick online research, and it appeared that even though she consumed more than her fair share of servings of cake, it wasn't enough chocolate to affect her. Whew! What a relief.
After dinner, we played some games and made some signs for the Mankato marathon the next morning.
It's true that a potluck filled with lots of autumn comfort food doesn't really fit into our Fashion, Fitness, and Fitness Fashion routine. However, celebrating marathons definitely does! This get-together was an opportunity for us all to come together to congratulate each other, and hear about each other's marathon experiences. It was great to hear from everyone....and once again:
Congrats to all the marathoners this fall!
Go have yourself some macoroni and cheese. You deserve it.
