On our first full day in Gothenburg, the D-man and I knew we had to be up early to catch our ride to the Volvo factory at 8 am. However, due to (thanks to?) jet lag, I was ready to head out for a run at 5 am. In fact, I probably would have been ready to run at 3 am!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - the best way to explore a new city is to head out for a run. Ask your hotel concierge for suggestions on a route. Bring your map. Bring your Garmin. And perhaps bring a few extra Swedish Krona for some water if it's hot!
Luckily for us, the city was quiet and the weather was nice and cool for our first run.
We ran down by the canal, and then by the ocean.
I was impressed to see that Gothenburg has a bike rental system similar to Minneapolis's "Nice Ride" program. "Styr & Stall"!
Our easy morning jog was a great way to start the day, and I think it really helped with the jet lag.
Then we were off to pick up our new ride!
We had some time to kill, so we also checked out the Volvo Museum.
Did you know that Volvo invented the 3-point seat belt? Safety first!
After a quick tutorial on Swedish traffic signals, we were ready to hit the road to Stockholm.
Be aware of the fart-hinder.
Stay tuned for more Fits on the Road from Sweden!
