Fresh New Fit: Blow-out Bars Follow-up!

by Jess

A few months ago, I tested out the new blow-out bar, Blast! You can read that inaugural trial here.

To prepare for Abby's wedding on Saturday, 5 of the ladies decided to try it out again. Well, I was the only one who had been there before; the other 4 ladies were trying it out for the first time.

We made the appointment three weeks ago, and were able to get in all at the same time, which was awesome.

We all checked in separately and were assigned to a stylist. My stylist Angela took me back for the shampoo (and wonderful scalp massage!) We talked about what style I was looking for, but this time I didn't actually get to pick out my style on an iPad like last time. They also didn't offer me cupcakes like last time either! Instead, I was offered water or coffee, but no sweet treats this time.

Mid-styling!

Hey Kelly, there's a brush on the side of your head!

Even without these small perks, my overall experience was a little better this time, primarily because the whole process was much faster. My hair was styled and ready to go in less than 45 minutes.

I thought all the ladies looked awesome. Check out these "before-and-after' pictures of Kelly!

Susie's hair looked especially lovely!

I went with the "Flirt" style again this time, which consists of tighter curls.
With thin and fine hair like mine, tighter curls seem to hold longer than loose ones.

I love this picture my friend took during the ceremony of all the Blast blow-outs in a row!

And the best part of a blow-out is that it lasts all through the night-
up until the time you are waiting for your cab to come post-wedding!

I am happy that blow-dry bars have appeared on the Minneapolis scene, but I don't think I will become a regular customer. They are a fun treat for a special occasion for me, but I think frugal Minnesotans might feel that $35 (plus tip) is still kind of a lot for a blow-dry. I am curious to see if our city can maintain the multitude of shops that have recently opened in the area.  Only time will tell!
