Failed Fit: A style I NEVER thought I'd see again

By LL in KC

If there is just one style that I thought - and I am sure EVERY one of you thirty and older thought - would never return, it is the high-waist, acid-wash jeans/jean shorts. However, here we are at the end of summer 2013 and I cannot even count how many times I had to check whether I had teleported back to the '80s. I mean, seriously!?!?! The high-waist jean shorts paired with a neon crop top, white Keds and a perm were never flattering - especially the jean shorts, which just elongate the rear end. I just cannot understand how this is a thing.

Luckily, I have not yet seen any person over the age of early twenties sporting this look. But I sure got an eyeful last weekend when my husband and I went to the Buzz Beach Ball KC.

So many young hipsters, trying to rock styles that were mashups of hippy - '80s - disco. Visual: crop American flag tees with high-waist jean shorts, shiny silver leggings and a headband worn around the forehead over a frizzy perm. I felt like I was in a time capsule, but with better music (aka Atlas Genius, AWOLNATION and Phoenix).

I cannot jump on board this trend since I lived it before. And I am inclined to believe the majority of you readers feel the same way - particularly the women. But I must know from the men - does this look even look attractive???

Here are some of the worst examples:

I cannot deny - these would be great for a Halloween costume, which is quickly approaching. But to see this on a regular day, I just cannot think that this is anything more than a Failed Fit.
