Featured Fit: What to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner

By Cool J
Nothing says Wisconsin Thanksgiving like an over-the-top cheese tray. Each year, the cheese tray gets bigger and bigger…(hopefully the same is not true about our thighs!)

With so much great food to consume, LL and I both went for something casual and "forgiving" for our Thanksgiving attire. I paired my favorite pair of mustard Banana Republic cordoroys and a simple navy top, (also from Banana), with a vintage necklace from Covered Boutique (in Uptown).

They have the cutest jewelry at this boutique. Though my husband calls me “Mr. T.” in this necklace- I pity the fool!- I don’t mind. It’s one of my current favorites!

And two days in a row- more yellow and navy for Jess!

LL wore a polka dot blouse with a navy cardi (both fitting the bill from Old Navy) with her Always Skinny's from the Gap, with riding boots from Abound.

It was a little breezy on Thanksgiving, so please forgive our crazy hair! It looked a lot better inside.

And our lovely host Dr. CJ, my oldest sister, also posed for a few pictures.  She was comfortably chic in black leggings, a fun green patterned top, and a green cardigan, which complimented the color of her eyes quite well.

 Looking good, Dr. CJ!

Jess's ensemble:
Mustard cords from Banana Republic- buy them HERE
Navy top from Banana Republic
Vintage necklace from Covered Boutique

LL's ensemble:
Polka dot blouse from Old Navy
Navy cardigan
Always Skinny jeans from the Gap
Riding boots by Abound
Pearl earrings (gifted)

CJ's ensemble:
Flowered top from Anne Klein
Green cardi from Target (what a great find!)
Black Leggings from White House/Black Market
Black ballet flats by Sam Edelman

We enjoyed a great meal, thanks to CJ's husband's cooking, and then we played games throughout the evening.

We hope you too had a great Thanksgiving! Cheers from the Right Fits!

Fit the Bill: Beach Coverups

By: Cool J

As I have mentioned in a few (i.e. a lot of) posts,  I spent last week in Mexico for a friend's wedding.

As with any beach trip, bikini coverups were a "must" for the suitcase.

My friends were gracious enough to let me photograph some of their adorable coverups, all of which "fit the bill!" These girls are smart and savvy shoppers, and I love sharing stories with them of great finds at unusual stores!

Kelly's coverup was from TJ Maxx.
The mango color and fun fabric were perfect for the beach.

Susie's coverup was from none other than JCPenny!
This girl knows how to find items that "fit the bill!"

My coverups were a mix of Target, H & M, and a LTB (Long Term Borrow) from LL.

Outfit details:
Hat: Heartbreaker
Dress: LTB from LL
Bikini: Target
Sunglasses: H & M

 Outfit details:
Coverup: H & M
Bag:  H & M
Sunglasses:  H & M
Bikini: Victoria's Secret

Outfit details:
Coverup: H & M
Tank: Heartbreaker
Bag:  H & M
Shorts:  Heartbreaker
Sunglasses:H & M
Bikini: Athleta

All items that "Fit the Bill!"

So, I will leave you with these tips I found on how to pick the best Beach Coverup for you!
  1. Think about where you will wear the cover-up. Decide whether this is an item you'll wear only to walk on the beach, or if you want something more stylish to wear to a local restaurant or other venue. Where you intend to wear the cover-up will help you to choose a style
  2. Show off your best feature. Keep in mind a bikini cover-up is not meant to cover your body from head to toe. Think about the part of your body you like best and show it off. For example if you have great legs don't buy a cover-up that is down to your ankles
  3. Hide your flaws. Avoid being overcritical of your body when considering an area that you feel needs improvement. Most women have some body part they don't like. Select a cover-up that conceals the least favorite part of your body.
  4. Be sure it is functional. Keep in mind you may be walking around or playing sports such as volleyball in a bikini cover-up. When trying on the cover-up move around in it to determine if it is too tight and restrictive or falls off easily.
  5. Try different styles. Some bikini cover-ups are wraps that only cover the lower half of the body. Other styles look like sun dresses. Try different types of cover-ups on. If possible try them with the bikini to see how they look together
  6. Consider the material. Bikini cover-ups may be made of cotton, rayon, spandex or other material. Keep in mind the climate you live in and don't select something that does not breathe well.

Fit the Bill: Target Dress WITH pockets

By: LL
Spring weather in the midwest is in full swing, which means that one minute it is hot and steamy, the next it is pouring rain. Luckily, there was a break in the rain, which allowed us to head out for a later afternoon stroll. Here is a peak at the cute little dress with pockets (#1 selling point for me) that I picked up at Target when I was supposed to be making a necessities run ... aren't cute dresses with pockets necessities? I wish my husband saw it that way!

Anyway, the dress, in stores now, is reasonably priced at $24.99. It comes with a matching tie belt, which I thought was a little too matchy-matchy, so I went ahead and paired it with a leather J.Crew belt.

{Dress - Target; Belt - J. Crew; Sandals - Steve Madden; Sunglasses - Rayban}

This steal of a dress comes in prints and solids, and has a striking resemblance to a dress featured in the InStyle "Under $50 Summer Must-Haves" (Page 201 for those of you with the June issue), but was even more of a bargain!
