Fit the Bill: Will I Still Be Forever 21 at 30?

I had a friend in college who was around to help me celebrate my 22nd birthday. She gave me a gift card to Forever 21, and inside the card she wrote, "Can you still shop here now that you're 22?"

Well, now I'm 30, and I'm still shopping there, so I guess the answer is yes!

Actually, I can't always handle the craziness of an actual Forever 21 store (the lines are INSANE, amiright?)

But I can handle a little online shopping, and Forever 21 definitely Fits the Bill!

This ensemble is almost entirely Forever 21.

Fitting Debates: To Maxi, or Not to Maxi?

Maxi dresses: I am aware that I am quite a bit behind the curve to be purchasing my first maxi dress. But, I just assumed that this style would not be flattering on my body type - I assumed that it would be a failed fit, as we say.

But again and again, one of my stylish friends would arrive to a social gathering, looking adorable in a flowing, bright maxi, and I wondered if I should reconsider ... There had to be a maxi that worked for me too!

Finally, many years after the debut of the maxi dress. I made my first purchase.

I went easy on the pocketbook with this Len Druskin outlet dress. It had adjustable straps (woo-hoo!) and seemed to be made of a versatile print with bright summery colors.

And then I tried it on...so comfortable. Why hadn't I purchased one of these before?

It's not too late to rock the maxi!

After living in Memphis for over two years, my husband and I definitely have come to know some great BBQ. And, like any Memphian, we have our favorite spots for ribs, pulled pork plates, and pulled pork sandwiches (no brisket here).

So, when announcing the news of our relocation to Kansas City, we were not really surprised that the most common response was, "Well, you will still have BBQ, but you'll have to settle with wet." I know, right? Probably not the first thought that comes to mind for anyone living oustide of the city that hosts the annual World Championship BBQ Competition each spring. But, this response directed our food selection when we were in KCMO last week. We wanted to do a comparison and see whether wet (or with BBQ sauce) was worse than dry (or with rub). Our first stop: Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbeque, which is located in the historic Freight House in the downtown Crossroads Art District.

Now, this BBQ restaurant was not a dive like most of the places we frequent for BBQ in Memphis. Instead, everyone is a bit more polished, and the prices a bit more expensive. We were lucky that we had been at a meeting prior to dinner, so we were both moderately dressed.

And, my husband and I both agreed that the BBQ at Jack Stack was good, but not quite as good as our favorite BBQ shop (which is Central BBQ, in case you were wondering).
