Fits on the Road: Exploring Portland.

By Cool J in Minneapolis

Just one last post about our trip to Oregon- yes, it did take me a month to get around to the final installment of Fits on the Road in Oregon, but here it is.

Oregon by Foot Part 1 was all about hiking. Part 2 was the Bend Ale Trail. Part 3 is a bit random with some final things to do in Portland!

Multnomah Falls:
After spending the night in Bend, we headed back to Portland. We started our day in that area with a hike of Multnomah Falls outside of the city in the Columbia River Gorge. There were several longer hikes in this area, but we only stopped briefly to check out the falls.

Waffle Window:
Once back in Portland, it was time to refuel at the Waffle Window. This funky place is really just a window~ You ring a doorbell when you're ready to order your waffle.

Kelly and I shared a savory waffle called the "Three B's". It had bacon, brie, and basil, with a peach jam. Dustin had the key lime pie waffle. Both were very good. Be sure to check out the waffle window in Portland!

Voodoo Donuts:
What better follow up to waffles than donuts? Voodoo Donuts is a big tourist draw, but we couldn't resist. There are so many funny flavors, so we picked up a few to eat later in the day.

We walked through many of the Portland neighborhoods, enjoying the "weirdness" of this city.

We even visited the world's smallest park.

Portland was a really interesting city, and had we not run the Newport marathon, I would definitely be interested in the marathon here. There is probably a lot more to explore in this city, but maybe some of our finds will help you out in planning a trip to this funky city!
